With its commitment to the environment, the community and award-winning beer, it’s little surprise that Lion Bridge Brewing Co. was named Best Brewery for the second year running. Lion Bridge occupies a restored landmark building at the entrance to Cedar Rapids’ Czech Village, and uses wind power to operate much of the brewery and restaurant. It has also partnered with Compost Ninja to reduce its waste, and regularly partners with other local businesses for sourcing and ingredients. Lion Bridge currently offers between 10 and 13 beers, and sends kegs to about 300 bars and restaurants throughout the state; plans are also in the works to begin canning next year. This summer marks the full outdoors season for Lion Bridge’s patio, which features mature shade trees, a bocce court and room for up to 80 people. “We want to show that this is a community space and there’s a lot more to our brewery than just beer and food,” said founder Quinton McClain.
