Best Golf Course: Finkbine Golf Course

Finkbine tops the leaderboard for the Corridor’s Best Golf Course for 2017 – the first new face in the category since Coralville’s Brown Deer was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Located just down from Kinnick Stadium, Finkbine is a public course that also serves as home to the University of Iowa’s golf teams. While being part of the university is a large part of Finkbine’s identity, quality is another factor in the course’s success, according to head golf pro Jeff Moore. “We have a dedicated person who fills divots in the fairways, and a rolling machine for our greens to keep them rolling well,” he said, adding that, to his knowledge, Finkbine is the only course in the region with such a machine. The course also recently announced plans for a new clubhouse, complete with locker areas, a bar and restaurant and other amenities. Construction is set to begin in 2018.
