Westdale Mall renderings released

On May 8, Frew Development Group unveiled its master plan and drawings for the 72-acre Westdale Mall property, 2600 Edgewood Road SW. It’s no secret that the 34-year-old mall needs a facelift and that Frew plans to invest $90 million into the site. What was new last week was the renderings, which illustrate Frew’s more specific plans.

Connecting the dots

Sean McKay started ConnectFive in 2006 in Iowa City. He had been performing design and user-experience-based consulting work and landed a huge project. That led him to start the company.

Coral Ridge Mall lands new businesses

Sephora, Discount Tires and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels will open at Coral Ridge Mall this summer and fall. Additional changes to the center include the relocation of The Children’s Place and Sleep Number.

Deere’s growth continues in Cedar Valley

Quad Cities-based John Deere, the world’s largest producer of tractors, makes more of them in Waterloo than anywhere else, according to Bill Klutho, John Deere manager, strategic communications.

Iowa City provides facade grants

Through its Building Change program, Iowa City selected several projects for façade renovation, fire suppression sprinklers and other improvements. The projects, located downtown and in the North Side Marketplace, are expected to improve the ability to lease underused space.
