Best Commercial Real Estate Lender: MidWestOne Bank

MidWestOne Bank

Commitment: That is the “it” factor that elevated MidWestOne Bank to the top of this year’s commercial real estate lending list in the Corridor.

“Our team is committed to meeting our business customers’ one-stop banking needs and finding solutions that take care of them,” said MidWestOne Chief Credit Officer Kent Jehle. “We’re extremely focused on relationships and take a holistic approach to business banking. This means we help with real estate lending as well as commercial banking.”

In the Corridor, MidWestOne has branches located in Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, West Liberty, Belle Plaine, Cedar Falls and Waterloo. The bank employs five commercial bankers in the Corridor.

“We have commercial bankers who have worked with the same customers for years,” Mr. Jehle said. “Through the years of helping business owners with financial needs, we are there as their businesses evolve. This enables our bankers to look at cash flow and lending in one big chunk, and that includes real estate lending when needed.”

Commitment also plays a role in MidWestOne’s connection to community. Not only is it the number one provider of volunteers for Junior Achievement in the Corridor, but it also provides teams of volunteers for the Summer of the Arts in Iowa City, North Liberty Blues & BBQ and other community events. The bank also financially supports nonprofit organizations and sponsor events.

“We’re not just giving lip service to community — our team makes a difference through the hours they commit,” said Community Relations Manager Amy Hospodarsky. “We have deep roots in the community and believe in giving back to it.”

In Iowa City, MidWestOne’s downtown location is currently under renovation. The institution is also building a six-story operations center across from the Johnson County Courthouse, which will house the Home Mortgage Center, among other departments. It will enable them to better serve customers at their 25 locations across the eastern half of the state.
