Coe College and UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids are partnering on COVID-19 testing as the fall semester opens.

The Cedar Rapids liberal arts college contracted with UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids to administer COVID-19 tests for students, facility and staff. St. Luke’s and Jones Regional Medical Center health care workers started COVID-19 testing last week as students started returning to campus.

About 1,300 students and nearly 350 faculty and staff are expected to be tested for COVID-19 by Friday. After the initial round of testing, Coe plans additional random testing throughout the school year.

“We want to provide the safest environment as possible for our students, faculty and staff during this public health crisis,” said Kris Bridges, Coe’s associate vice president for human resources, in a release. “Working with a trusted health care provider like UnityPoint Health and creating this partnership will help us provide a high degree of health and safety for everyone on campus.”
