Steve Caves and Nancy Kasparek have been instrumental in my professional and leadership development, showing me two outstanding leadership styles. Also, all mothers who get themselves and their children to school and/or daycare every day with matching shoes.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you?

I played on the boys tee-ball league at the age of five because the girls league didn’t start until age seven and I didn’t want to wait that long. This little example at the age of five really tells quite a bit about who I still am today. I’m not afraid to step outside the box or to make an unpopular decision (to the little boys on the team at the time) for the right reasons.

What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace?

Working mothers of my generation are breaking the glass ceiling, while still in a world structured for men, but also during a time of unprecedented expectations at home. From Pinterest parties to organic homemade food to the latest workout craze, the pressures of motherhood are different today than for other generations.

What is the biggest issue facing the Corridor?

Working and thinking as a Corridor to recruit and retain workforce and business. The formation and work of ICR Iowa is an exciting step in the right direction!
