Now hiring at the CBJ: Editorial assistant

The Corridor Business Journal (CBJ) in North Liberty has an opening for a part-time (20 hours/week) Editorial Assistant, who will assist the CBJ’s news operations in producing its daily and weekly publications.

Candidates must have excellent communication, editing and writing skills, be able to work quickly under deadlines, and have working knowledge of AP style.

The editorial assistant will be asked to do the following:

  • Edit and proof content for the CBJ’s daily newsletters and weekly newspaper
  • Manage the CBJ’s new weekly The Wrap Sheet newsletter
  • Research and write small briefs and editorial copy
  • Manage and coordinate photography and art with outside sources
  • Assist the CBJ’s newsroom with administrative tasks (transcription, research, etc.)
  • Upload articles to CBJ website and post items to social media
  • Manage the CBJ’s Movers & Shakers promotions section
  • Manage the Events Calendar section
  • Manage the Off the Clock entertainment roundup
  • Manage the CBJ’s Economic Indicators data section
  • Assist the CBJ’s events team when needed and network at CBJ events
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Applicants should ideally have a college degree and/or experience in journalism, PR, communication or English. Applicants will also be asked to copy edit and proof sample CBJ content following an application.

The hire will be entitled to 60 hours of paid time off and paid holidays.
