Open house for new UI Heart and Vascular Center set for Sept. 13

University of Iowa Health Care will host an open house for its new UI Heart and Vascular Center clinic from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at 4800 John Pappajohn Pavilion (elevator I, level 4) at UI Hospitals and Clinics.  The event is free and open and to the public.

The open house will include tours of the new clinic, free blood pressure and heart rate tests, demonstrations on performing CPR and using an AED (automated external defibrillator), and information about MyChart, a web-based service that gives patients online access to their medical information. Light refreshments also will be available.

On Sept. 18, UI Heart and Vascular Center will open the new, 30,000-square-foot clinic, which features:

  • 27 patient examination rooms with space to accommodate family members
  • Three minor procedure rooms
  • 10 echocardiography and vascular imaging suites
  • On-site cardiopulmonary exercise/stress echocardiography capabilities
  • Patient education and conference facilities
  • Same-day scheduling for clinic appointments

The new clinic will bring together all heart and vascular outpatient services into one location, notes Phillip Horwitz, MD, executive director of UI Heart and Vascular Center.

“This will make clinic appointments more convenient for patients and families and allow for greater collaboration and coordination among our clinical staff,”Dr. Horwitz stated in a press release.

The telephone number for scheduling appointments at the new clinic will remain the same: (319) 356-7102.

UI Heart and Vascular Center also will continue to see patients at UI Health Care’s Iowa River Landing location at 105 E. Ninth St. in Coralville.
